Places to visit in Gujarat

Also Gujarat is amongst the very few places in the world where a guest is considered a God and you will be fed food like a brother from another mother. With a population of over 60 million, Gujarat is a perfect mix of modern development while you will still see places and people attached to their roots which makes them unique amongst the other states.  Stunning topography, dense forests, amazing architecture, old world charm to stark white salt plains are some of the keywords which defines Gujarat. Though there are hundreds of places to visit which you can google it too but we will list out the top 10 for sure!

Gir National Park

Gir National Park is a stunning wildlife sanctuary in Gujarat of western India. Gir was created to protect and secure the rare breed of asiatic lions who frequent a lot from the fenced-off  Devalia Safari Park, It was also established to protect leopards and antelopes. The stunning Gir Jungle Trail which is fenced outside the area is covered with lush deciduous forest and is home to a variety of wildlife including vultures, eages and the rare pythons. The Kamleshwar Dam inside the Gir Forest has marsh crocodiles and a host of rare birds like Indian skimmers and pelicans.

Somnath Temple

Stunning architecture, grand, stately are some of the words which describe this majestic temple which is considered to be amonst the 7wonders of India and amongst the Top 20 wonders of the world. Overlooking the temple or we can the temple is beautifully sea facing with a vast stretch of sea which makes it a sight to behold. The majestic Somnath temple is regarded to be the 1st among the twelve jyotirlinga shrines of Shiva which makes it an important pilgrimage and tourist spot of Gujarat

Laxmi Vilas Palace, Vadodara

Maharaja Laxmi Vilas Palace is referred to a series of stunning palaces in Vadodara, Gujarat which were constructed since the times of the Gaekwad- a prominent Maratha family which ruled the Gujarat once, This family also started ruling the Baroda State. The first one was a building known as the Sarkar Wada and the other one Laxmi Vilas palace. Stunning architecture, amazing aura and atmoshphere defines this superlative palace.

Sidi Sayad Mosque

It is one of the most famous mosques of Ahmedabad. The beautiful Sidi Saiyyed Mosque is a symbol of a time when Gujarat thrived and truly progressed under the Muslim rule. As attested by the marble tablet fixed on the wall of the mosque, it was built by Sidi Saiyyid in the retinue of Bilal Jhajar Khan.A masterpiece carved from a single stone slab. However lost in the midst of city one would easily miss it. The Sidi Saiyed’s Mosque‘s study in detailing- intricate work creates a most magical piece of art. Visit this place as the day turns to night- it is lit magically and shimmers in all its glory.

Prag Mahal, Bhuj

 Prag Mahal palace is converted into a Museum, Some antique pieces used by the great Maharaj is there. The main attraction is the darbar hall and tower of clock. From this tower we can see the entire bhuj city, in India only two clocks of this type was fixed, one at Prag Mahal and the another one in Mumbai. Prag Mahal palace was also used in blockbuster film Lagaan of Aamir khan while it was featured in the shooting of Khusbu Gujarat ki ad campaign acted by Great Amitabh Bachhan which proves how beautiful this place was.

Jama Mosque, Ahemedabad

Established in 1424, the beautiful Jama Masjid is a beautiful mosque. It is so big that once you enter inside maybe a fairytale dream is the first thing you will come to your mind. As you enter you have to remove your shoes and hold them in your hand and carry them with you inside near the water pound and leave them. You have to walk the entire place bare feet.

You have to place your shoes as such that their bottom/sole should not be visible. One of the fascinating things about this place was that the main dome is carved like lotus flowers, closely related to the similar domes of Jain temples and many of the pillars are carved in shapes of a bell hanging on a chain which refers to the bells that also usually hang in the Hindu temples. It was built with the purpose of serving as a worship place for the great Sultan and took about 13 years to complete.

It was amusing to see Hindu temple touch in the mosque. This is very near to Bhadra kali fort and famous teen Darwaza which is usually a very crowdy place and it is recommended to go here early morning.

Sabarmati Ashram

Sabarmati Ashram will give a peep into the life of Mahatma Gandhi. It has all his belongings alone with the letters written by Gandhiji during the independence movement. It also has good library where you can purchase various books written on Gandhiji. The place has its own aura that makes you fall in love with the place and you may want to spend hours looking over the river and meditating. The architectural beauty is beyond imagination. The interiors and very especially the charkhas are eye catchy.

Kankaria Lake

Kankaria lake is not only beautiful but also a great destination for family and kids. There are so many activities and fun games to do like balloon ride, toy train, amusement park (with roller coaster), segway ride, lots of snacks and food to munch on. Music, lights, boating, calmness and peaceful environment away from the city chaos is what defines this place. Plus the place is well maintained too.

Dwarkadish Temple

Dwarkadish mandir is located at banks of river Gomti…it’s a special place for all Hindus as being one of the four Dham. This historic and one of the oldest temples at Dwaraka close to the sea has an imposing structure and stands majestic. The very look of the temple is breathtaking with its huge flag flying on top of the temple Gopuram. Pilgrims are regulated in queue and can get Darshan peacefully. The changing of flag on top is an event worth watching. Lord Krishna looks so divine, it is a blessing to be here.


The beautiful Champaner is a UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Gujarat. It’s a soothing, magical & spiritual experience worth cherishing & experiencing with your friends and family atleast once. Stunning attractions like Sheher ki Masjid, Nagina Masjid, Jami Masjid are flanked by dense trees, mountains and picturesque farmland. The entire place is supremely peaceful. This is one such place with many great views and photography is prohibited, Situated on the foots of pavaghadh hills, it’s a religious place with ancient history attached to it. Nearby is also shrine of Goddess on hills.
