Parle Mahotsav 2025 Witnesses Record-Breaking Participation

The 24th edition of the grand ‘Parle Mahotsav,’ known for its diverse competitions in art, sports, and cultural fields, was held with great enthusiasm at the Snehlata Deshmukh Sports Complex in Vile Parle. Under the leadership of MLA Parag Alavani, this year’s festival saw a record-breaking participation of 60,000 contestants. The event was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who praised the festival, saying, “While Pune is Maharashtra’s cultural capital, Vile Parle is its sub-capital. Parle Mahotsav beautifully blends tradition with modernity, preserving our cultural heritage.”

Initially limited to the Parle area, the festival has now expanded its reach to the suburbs, Mumbai, and even the entire state. Participants ranged from young children as young as 4 years old to youth, adults, women, and senior citizens, showcasing inclusivity across all age groups.

For the first time, an adventurous event, ‘Dahi Handi,’ was included, adding to the festival’s diversity. The meticulous planning and execution of combining cultural, sports, and arts events under one umbrella have been lauded as a successful model in the country. During the closing ceremony, Cultural Minister Ashish Shelar commended the festival’s management and vision.

Looking ahead, MLA Parag Alavani announced that the upcoming year marks the silver jubilee of Parle Mahotsav in 2025. He emphasized that the preparations have already begun to make it even grander with more competitions and new events, aiming to increase its scale and impact.

The event was graced by dignitaries such as Minister Nitesh Rane, Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, and renowned choreographer Ganesh Acharya, among others. The Parle Mahotsav continues to be a symbol of pride and cultural heritage for the people of Vile Parle.
