Ramayana, Mahabharat, Circus, Byomkesh Bakshi: Doordarshan will re-run these epic TV serials

Amidst the lockdown which entire India is undergoing to stop coronavirus being spread.  Government has decided to re-telecast these popular, blockbusters, epic TV serials from the past. 

Announcing this, Prakash Javadekar, Information & Broadcasting Minister tweeted: “Happy to announce that DD Bharati will relay from Saturday 28th March, the popular serial ‘Mahabharat’ at 12 noon and 7 pm every day & Ramayana at 9am and 9 pm everyday on DD National”

Ramayana:

Produced & written by Ramanand Sagar, ‘Ramayana ‘ was first broadcasted in 1987.

Mahabharata:

Produced by BR Chopra, the original Mahabharata TV serial was first broadcasted in 1988, whose script was written by Urdu poet Rahi Masoom Raza.

Both Ramayana and Mahabharata were a blockbuster hit among TV viewers that time.

Along with the mythological and religious blockbusters, Doordarshan will also run other popular TV serials from the past Circus & Byomkesh Bakshi.  

Circus:

Starring Shahrukh Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker, Circus was first broadcasted in 1988, and was directed by Aziz Mirza and Kundan Shah. Circus TV series later formed the foundation for Shahrukh Khan, which helped him enter Bollywood, and become a superstar. 

Byomkesh Bakshi:

Byomkesh Bakshi, which attained the status of a cult show, was first telecasted in 1993. Starring  Rajit Kapur and K.K. Raina as Byomkesh Bakshi and Ajit Kumar Banerji, Byomkesh Bakshi was directed by Basu Chatterjee.

1) Old Ramayana on DD National – 9 am and 9 pm daily  

2) Byomkesh Bakshi on DD National – 11 am daily

3) Old Mahabharata on DD Bharti – 12 pm and 7pm daily  

4) Circus on DD National – 8pm daily
