‘Navratri’ what comes to your mind ‘Dandiya Rass, Garba and Music’. But it is not all. Of course , it is a festival of joy, enjoyment and Dandiya.

But navratri is also nine days worship of Shakti- Maa Ambe, Mahalaxmi, and Durga. The first day is the day of ‘Ghatsthapana’. Bengali’s bring home idols of Durga mata and worship them.The festivals are similar to celebrations of Ganapati Festival. persons especially Gujaratis keep fast during these nine days and chant gayatri mantra every day atleast 9 times. When the chanting of Gayatri mantra is completed for 1.25 lakh times, it is called ‘Purna Anushthan”.

on the last day 10th day dassera is celebrated. Sweets are prepared and distributed.On this day ‘Purn Anushthan’ is completed. Bengalis immerse the idols of Durga Mata in the available water source. 

During Navratri dandiya is organised in most of the communities too. Dandiyas are organised on the large scale in kandivali, Vileparle, Borivali, Andheri and many suburbs of mumbai.

Many bollywood celebrities are invited for navratri. Every year Mumbai rocks on the songs of Phalguni Pathak, Preeti, Pinky and even big groups of some music directors like Adesh Shrivastav etc.
