Every year Parlekars celebrate Ganesh festival in a huge manner. Decoration, Dressing in traditional clothes, Rangoli, Food, Etc.
Decoration in Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal is also unique and different from the rest of Mumbai. Parlekars use to gather in numbers to see the decoration and various shows. From last year covid-19 has forced us to stay indoors. Due to this the decoration, lighting, shows are restricted. The idol size has been reduced by BMC (Sarvajanik Mandal’s Idol – 4 ft and Idol at home – 2 ft., The idol has to be of shadu mati or paper. Visarjan should be done at an artificial pond near you or in a large tub / in a barrel at home or in your vicinity.
Due to the reduction in the idol’s size, the smaller idols are looking different and have a certain percentage of cuteness in their look.
