Woman’s Day Special Feature – Vile Parle Women’s Networking Group

Vile Parle Women’s Networking Group is a very active WhatsApp group connecting all women entrepreneurs in Vile Parle East. They boast of having women entrepreneurs ranging from doctors, architects, shop owners, jewellery designers to bakers, home made food providers, to even those who provide house cleaning services, etc.

Founded on 25 November, 2017, it addresses the need of connecting businesses in Vile Parle East. The group has since increased their reach to include East and West side of the suburb.

The networking group regularly hold meets in formal and informal settings for the participants to not only network but to enjoy as well. This helps in meeting new members of the community and forging friendship and business relationships as well. Rasika Joshi Phene,founding member of the group, has always been insistent of maintaining a not so formal environment within the group. According to her, since we all stay in the same suburb, interacting with one another is of utmost importance. An astute business women herself, she constantly strives to make sure the networking group has various unique workshops lined up in the course of the year.

As the group started expanding, certain guidelines were introduced to maintain the day to day working. Not only is this group a women’s only entity, it states that anyone above 18 years of age with a business and living in Vile Parle can be a member. As the numbers increased, various other rules were added to maintain the decorum and purpose of the group.

Other founding members of the group namely Jui Bag, Shilpa Kulkarni and Manasi Thite help the day to day dealing of the group. With a huge demand from people from other suburbs pouring in, there are plans in the future for expanding this networking group.

Since social media has a huge hand in marketing of products and services, the efforts of the founders are wholly backed by the feedback of the members. A women’s only networking group set in a fun, social environment is the need of the hour.
The VPWN group has definitely captured the attention of the area and has turned out to be a game changer of many businesses in the locality.
