Winter vacations are here… and I am sure so are lots of holiday travel plans!
So today let’s see how to stay healthy during holiday travels.
1] Prepare well – Healthy vacation travel is assured by how well you prepare before you start travelling. So do educate yourself well about the weather and common health infections in the area that you are travelling.Get vaccination if needed.Pack your regular medication and also basic emergency medications in your travel bag.Prepare well for the weather that you are travelling to… be it clothes, moisturizers, boots, sweaters etc.Get travel medical insurance done if travelling abroad.
2] Drink plenty of water – it’s easy to quickly become dehydrated during travel, especially plane travel. Keep that water bottle close by and add some lemon slices when you can; it will help boost immunity.
Alcohol is dehydrating too, grab a glass of water with each of your adult beverages.

3] Move it – make sure to move! Walk, use the gym at your hotel, and grab a local yoga class, hike. Get your lymphatic system moving so that your body can heal from the stress of traveling long hours. Find fun ways to stay active, such as dancing to your favorite holiday music. Be active for at least 2½ hours a week. Help kids and teens be active for at least 1 hour a day.
4] Wash your hands – old fashioned soap and water will work just fine and rub them together for at least 20 seconds or, if not available, a hand sanitizer or Hand Sanitizer Spray will do the trick. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. If you don’t have tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow, not your hands. Wipe down surfaces using a essential oil infused cloth or essential oil-based hand sanitizing wipe, wipe down arm rests, seatbelt buckles, your cellphone, and other areas often.
5] Eat for your immune system – like lots of garlic for its antiviral and antibacterial properties. Reach for those dark, leafy greens whenever possible. Start your day with a good protein source to help curb sugar cravings later in the day. With balance and moderation, you can enjoy the holidays the healthy way. Choose fresh fruit as a festive and sweet substitute for candy. Limit fats, salt, and sugary foods.
6] Say Yes to Rest – Get adequate rest. Don’t let busy schedules, endless requests, and late nights wear down your body and mind. Practice the art of saying no and being selective about how you spend your time. That way you can be completely present during your chosen time with your family and friends. And, stay healthy too!
7] Use Insect repellant cream – Many times it’s easy to get insect bite while traveling, sightseeing or forest walks or treks so carry insect repellant with you. And don’t forget to use it before stepping out on your adventure journey.
8] Carry some regular comfort food with you – Where ever you travel don’t forget to carry some amount of your regular comfort food with you. By comfort food I mean ‘food that your body is used to’ so even if you don’t like the local variety of food at your destination, you can stay full. Also carry some amount of ‘dryfruits’ as they have high energy value and are healthy also. On the days when you are out on sightseeing tour and meal gets delayed or is not of your liking ‘dry fruits’ are the best option to maintain energy levels.
SO people, take care of these simple things and have wonderful holiday season!
