Lata Didi, we will miss you

The Nighintagale of India left us all on 6^th February 2022, Sunday at 8.12 am at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai due to multi organ failure. She was 92 years of age & her mortal remains draped in national flag, were taken from a truck to her home and then to Shivaji Park, Dadar at 6.30 pm where she was cremated with full state of honours. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi attended the funeral at Shivaji Park. Our PM flew from Delhi to Mumbai to pay last respect to Lata ji and give condolence to Mangeshkar family.  

Lataji was born in Indore on 18^th September 1929, her parents father Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar and mother Shevanti. Lataji`s siblings – Meena, Asha, Usha and brother Hridaynath are all accomplished singers and musician.
Lata Mangeshkar was a recipient of Padma Bhushan (1969), Dadasaheb Phalke (1989), Maharashtra Bhushan (1997), Padma Vibhushan (1999), Bharat Ratna (2001) and Legion of Honour (2007) Awards. She has also won National Film Award, Filmfare award for Female Play back singing, Filmfare Lifetime achievement award and many many more awards.
She was an Icon of Indian Cinema and has sung songs in almost 36 Indian languages. Government of India has marked decided that as a mark of respect, two days of mourning will be observed from Feb 6 to 7. During State Mourning National Flag will be flown at half-mast from Feb 6 to 7 throughout India.
