1. Tea Gardens, Munnar
This is the charm and crown of Munnar for whih every one comes here for, the lush green and well maintained tea plantations of munnar. Book a guide and go as early in the morning as you can. The guides can explain you about tea plaining and harvesting and a bit about the history. You will have magnificent views over the Munnar valleys. On descent you will be able to stroll around admidst the tea plants
2. Guruvayur Temple(Guruvayur)
This is one of the most revered and prestigious temples of South India. Guruvayur is a Krishna (Vishnu) temple. There is dress code for visiting Guruvayur temple. Men have to wear ‘Dhoti’ and females either Saree and salwar kamiz. Temple opens daily at 4:30pm for the evening darshan and usually there will be line for darshan. The best part is that Sanctum Santorum is lit with traditional oil lamps and does not have electric lamps. Evening, temple outer walls are lit with thousands of small oil lamps and it is a quite impressive and spiritual experience. Traditional temple music is played in the evening. There is open air auditorium in temple complex, where traditional dance (Bharatnatyam) is performed in the evening.Lord Krishna is dressed as an infant in the morning and by evening they change the lord to an adult marking his full cycle of birth. There are cultural performances as well within the premise from time to time.
3.Anthirapally Waterfalls
Athirapally Falls is a mind blowing land of frothy waters that paves its way from the Anamudi mountains of the Western Ghats. Majestic Anthirapally is 80 ft high and 330 ft wide and is situated at the entrance of the Sholayar ranges and is often referred to as the “Niagara Falls of India”. From here, the Athirapally falls flows through the verdant greenery of Vazhachal Forest toward the Arabian Sea, creating a spectacular vista of scintillating water, emerald jungles and azure sky.
When you arrive at this location, you are welcomed with the view of soothing green Sholayar Peaks passing over the marvelous falls. Standing against the backdrop of rustling jungle foliage, the landscape gets as beautiful as it can get. Bird lovers definitely cannot afford to miss this place, for it is the only place in the Western Ghats where four endangered Hornbill species are seen. There is a pool above the falls where you can relax and unwind. To get a view of the waterfall, one needs to get down from the mountain for about 100 meters.
One more interesting fact to is that the fall joins forces with the Chalakkudy river before arriving to its final destination into the sea. There are also a few water theme parks on the way to Athirappilly like Silver Storm and Dream World as well as many resorts on the way.
4. Green Park Ayurvedic & Spices Plantation
The tour at Spice Gardens will exceed your expectations, You will get to touch, smell and taste everything plucked fresh from the trees or rooted from the soil! The guide are also fantastic and will share everything they know an enthusiastic way! You also get to see how the fruits of the tree are harvested from high above the trees on the sturdy metal swing bridge. You can also experience climbing the coconut tree using a foot holding contraption that is spiked into the truck. A trip Spice garden is surely a must visit!
